The Schlingmann GmbH & Co. KG, based in Dissen (Lower Saxony) is a German manufacturer of fire engines .

history

TLF 8W, also "Lower Saxony tanker", for forest fire operations. Year of construction 1978.

In 1880, the wheelwright Heinrich Schlingmann founded the company on his parents' farm and began building coaches . The first motor vehicle built by Schlingmann was a delivery truck for the Homann company in 1926 . In the 1930s, various box bodies were manufactured on Opel Blitz chassis; this chassis also served the first fire engine built by Schlingmann for the Dissen volunteer fire brigade in 1935.

After the Second World War , the second vehicle built by Schlingmann, a TLF 15, was handed over to the Dissen fire department in 1952 . In the following years, the company became more professional in fire fighting vehicles, so that the complete portfolio of standard and individual vehicles was soon offered. In 1972, various vehicles on a wide variety of chassis were exhibited at the world's leading trade fair Interschutz in Frankfurt.

After the forest fire disaster in Lower Saxony , Schlingmann developed the TLF 8 (W) (the so-called Lower Saxony tanker), which for a long time could be ordered as a technical instruction of the State of Lower Saxony similar to the standard. The company also participated intensively in the development of the LF24 , which has been used by many professional fire departments for decades .

In 1993, Kemner GmbH from Versmold was taken over as a subsidiary; this is where the crew room extensions are manufactured. To expand into the new federal states, Schlingmann opened a branch in Burgstädt, Saxony, in 1994 .

Schlingmann was part of the fire truck cartel that was dug up in 2011 .
