The Schloßberg with 478 m above sea level. NHN is a mountain in the Steigerwald . It is located in the eastern part of the Kitzingen district in Lower Franconia .
Geographical location
The Schlossberg is slightly higher than the neighboring mountain ranges and largely separated from them; In addition, it protrudes far into the flatter landscape in front of it, which is around 150 meters lower. This makes the mountain look very striking, especially from the south side, and can be seen from afar. Parts of the mountain are occupied by the so-called Ilmbacher Forest, which is reminiscent of the former Carthusian monastery of Ilmbach . The Prichsenstadt districts of Altenschönbach and Kirchschönbach are at the foot of the mountain .
Attractions
The Burgstall Altenschönbach is located on a mountain spur that protrudes to the west and drops steeply on three sides . Only the tower hill remains from the former castle complex.
Every year the so-called Schloßberglauf takes place, which is organized by SV Altenschönbach.
