history

Hueb Castle, copper engraving by Michael Wening , 1721

A seat Hueb is documented in 1485, when the "Edel vng vesst Laczarus Ellrechinger zw Heb" documents and seals. The seat went from the Ellrechingern to the Dachsberger. Around 1517 a Hans von Dachsberg was named. The castle was built under Rudolph von Dachsberg (Taxberg) zu Aspach on a hill of the Mettmacher Au.

Through the marriage of Anna Juliane von Dachsperg, married Freifrau von Franking and remarried Wartenberg, the property came to the Counts of Wartenberg. With Ferdinand Lorenz von Wartenberg, this family died out on July 3, 1654. The Frankingers were the heirs of the Wartenberg family. Hueb remained in the possession of the Counts of Franking until 1829. From there it came to the von Handel family. In 1853 Ernst von Handel-Mazzetti took over the property. He was succeeded in 1920 by the writer Anton Schott (1866–1945). Hueb has been owned by Hermine Bruckbauer since 1930 and by her daughter Marie since 1959.

Hueb Castle today

Around 1960 the castle is still referred to as "newly renovated" or as a "delightful little castle". There can be no question of that today. The castle has decayed, the courtyard overgrown and the former park overgrown with bushes.

The castle itself is three-story and has a crooked roof. The roof construction has changed significantly compared to the view from 1721 with the double-hewn roof, and the corner turrets have disappeared. A chapel is built into the castle . There should be a plaque with the following names: Handel auf Hueb und Hagenau 1776–1847, J. v. Preen 1783–1806, L. Franz von Handel 1855, A. Fr. Mazzetti von Roccamova 1813–1845, C, Benvenutti von Chiusole 1816–1847. Above the entrance to the castle is the year 1610, on the left is the coat of arms of the Dachsbergers, on the right the coat of arms of Sabina Dachsberg, née Herzham. There is a connecting wall between the castle and farm buildings, which originally belonged to the former gate construction . Above the gate there is a formerly open battlement from the castle to an arbor of the farm building. This is two-story and also has a crooked roof.
