Peterwitz Palace (Frankenstein)
The Peterwitz Castle ( Polish Zamek w Stoszowicach ) is a castle in Stoszowice (German Peterwitz ) in the powiat Ząbkowicki ( Frankenstein district ) in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship in Poland.
history
In 1378 a fortress house is mentioned on site. At times the place belonged to the hereditary bailiwick of Frankenstein. From 1536 those of Reibnitz , from 1550 those of Gellhorn, at times also those of Zedlitz . The three-winged complex surrounded by a curtain wall was built under Fabian von Reichenbach . Then the castle came back to the von Zedlitz and the von Nostitz . From 1820 until 1945 the von Strachwitz owners.
After 1945 the castle was used by an agricultural production cooperative. Today it is privately owned.
Building
The castle is still partially surrounded by a rampart, a wet moat and a bastionic enclosure wall. The main building is surrounded by three towers covered with pointed helmets. The wings of the building frame an inner courtyard surrounded by arcades. Inside, the top of an outer portal from the 16th century has been preserved, which bears the coats of arms of von Reichenbach, Schaffgotsch , Seidlitz , Haugwitz , Pogarell and von Mühlheim.
