Schwerin Castle Festival
The Schwerin Castle Festival has been a series of events organized by the Mecklenburg State Theater in Schwerin since 1993 , most of which take place every year in the Old Garden in front of the backdrop of the Schwerin Castle , the State Theater and the State Museum . Great operas by Verdi, Puccini and other composers are performed. In 2001 the Castle Festival reached a previous record with around 70,000 visitors.
In 2012 the Mecklenburg State Theater cooperated with the Circus Roncalli . Ruggero Leoncavallo's opera The Bajazzo was performed in a large circus tent . The director was the opera director Peter Lotschak.
In 2013, the operetta Die Fledermaus by Johann Strauss was returned to the usual venue in the Alten Garten Schwerin in a total of 23 performances. Guest actor was Walter Plathe , known among other things from the television series Der Landarzt .
Since 2018, parallel to the music theater production at the Alter Garten, a drama production has been performed annually in the inner courtyard of the Schwerin Palace. The first such production was Dracula by Bram Stoker and directed by Krzysztof Minkowski .
