In 2011 the group filed for bankruptcy.

history

The company's history dates back to 1947, when Friedrich Schlott in Freudenstadt the printing plant Schlott founded. In 1992 a management buy-out took place and the previous Schlott Tiefdruck KG  was converted into a GmbH . In 1997 the company was converted into a stock corporation and it went public as the first gravure printing company in Germany . In 2000 the company was integrated into the Sebaldus Group including meiller direct and in 2002 into the Broschek Group. In 2003, schlott sebaldus AG was renamed schlott gruppe AG . On May 1st, 2006 Reus sro Pilsen and its sales companies AIB Industrie-Buchbinderei GmbH and Oldenbourg Taschenbuch GmbH, Kirchheim, were taken over by the Oldenbourg Group, Kirchheim. However, in order to be able to concentrate better on the core business, heckel and meiller direct were sold in 2006 and 2007 respectively. At the end of November 2008, the sheet-fed offset subsidiary sachsdruck GmbH Plauen was sold again (with retroactive effect from October 1, 2008), which had only been taken over in the early 1990s.

insolvency

On January 18, 2011, the company filed for bankruptcy. The bankruptcy proceedings were opened on April 1, 2011. The lawyer Siegfried Beck from Nuremberg was appointed as the insolvency administrator.

At the request of the insolvency administrator, the admission of the ordinary bearer shares, ISIN DE0005046304, to the regulated market (General Standard) was revoked in the summer . The revocation becomes effective with a period of 6 months after publication. The publication took place on June 8, 2011 on the Deutsche Börse AG website , so that the revocation will take effect on December 8, 2011.

Two years before the bankruptcy, the group was already in an intensive restructuring process. The company's cost structure was massively changed and printing capacities were reduced in line with market conditions. According to the company, these measures have not been sufficient to compensate for the unexpected drop in market prices for printed products and the rising raw material prices.

The insolvency administrator has meanwhile sold three company divisions at the Nuremberg location: The business division of Schlott advertising agency media2print GmbH was sold to the Stark group of companies in Bremen. A total of 33 of the original 47 employees were taken on.

The UE Sebald Druck GmbH in Nuremberg, where u. a. the soccer newspaper Kicker was printed at the beginning of June 2011 by Burda Druck GmbH ( Offenburg ). 220 workers should keep their jobs, it was said; 53 had to leave when bankruptcy proceedings were opened. The "Broschek Rollenoffset GmbH" in Lübeck will be continued by the Schießl printing group from Augsburg as "VS Broschek Druck GmbH". The Broschek gravure and Broschek Service GmbH in Hamburg were shut down.

The then CEO of the Schlott Group, Bernd Rose, took over the Landau activities on June 1, 2011, i. H. the WWK pressure , formerly "Klambt pressure" on his newly founded "Rose Druck GmbH" (1843 Roses had great-great-grandfather William Wenzel Klambt founded the publishing Klambt out inter alia the Klambt pressure emerged). The Appl family of entrepreneurs took a stake in Rose Druck GmbH. 113 of the 133 employees should keep their jobs.
