The Schmalwasser is a 11.3 kilometer long, strong Heidebach on the eastern edge of the Südheide Nature Park , in the south of the Lüneburg Heath .

The stream rises at Blickwedel , turns south, takes on the wheel stream on the left and flows into the Lutter from the left and northeast in the village of Bargfeld in the municipality of Eldingen .

The story Die Wasserstraße by Arno Schmidt (1964) is set on a hike up the narrow water.
