Pain

PAINKE is a district of Brandenburg an der Havel . The village is located about four kilometers southeast of the city center on the B 102 .

Location and history

In the north and west of the village are the Zaucheschen Havelwiesen, in the south next to arable land there is the Malerker Heide, a forest area. The village center is west of the B 102 on a dead end street.

People lived in the area of the village as early as the Young Iron Age, there are finds from this time. The first documentary mention comes from the year 1267, it belonged to the Bishop of Brandenburg. In 1284 the cathedral chapter of Brandenburg bought the place. In 1624 twelve Hüfner and six Kössät lived here . Seven people lived here after the Thirty Years War . The village burned down completely in 1757 and 1775, after which it was rebuilt.

In autumn 2001, two small areas of the cemetery were archaeologically examined at the church in preparation for the construction of rainwater septic tanks. Nine graves were found on the north side and 15 on the south side, as well as numerous collecting bones. The bone material was in good to moderate condition. The time of the burials could not be precisely classified. They are likely to date from the 13th to 19th centuries. In addition to the 24 burials, 26 individuals were found from the collection bones. It was possible to determine a life expectancy of 27 years at the time of birth, which is quite low compared to other populations and thus gave a first indication of difficult living conditions. The peak of death was found at an advanced age, at 22%, followed by adults at 21% and children up to 7 years at 20%. Child mortality of 36% was in the range of comparable skeletal series. Women died more often in adulthood, men in advanced or old age. The comparatively low average height of 1.65 m indicated a poor supply of animal proteins. The condition of the teeth was very bad. 90% of the buried had dental caries , almost 15% of all teeth were carious. This suggested a high-carbohydrate, predominantly plant-based diet. The malnutrition found shows that malnutrition also occurred; Protein deficiency and malnutrition can be demonstrated especially for children. A high number of degenerative changes in the spine and large joints indicated a high workload. All in all, poor living conditions could be assumed for the people from pain, with heavy physical work, a diet rich in carbohydrates and low in protein, which led to deficiency symptoms and malnutrition.

In 1925, the Neuschmerzke settlement was built north of Achimke and east of the intersection of B 1 and B 102 . From 1950 to 1952, Malerke was part of the Brandenburg district. Since December 6, 1993, Malerke has belonged to Brandenburg an der Havel again . In 1952 an LPG was founded in painke.
