The winery Schmid-Oberrautner is a historically significant, rural residential building in Gries-San Quirino , a district of Bolzano in South Tyrol .

The striking homestead , located in today's Fagenstrasse, stands out with its old late Gothic house with a pointed gable facing the street along Michael-Pacher-Strasse. In the courtyard, there is a staircase with chamfered, steingerahmter ogival door and a connecting passage to the farm building from about 1500. Also, the hallway has a pointed arch door in wide chamfered Steinrahmung in the same period.

The farm has been owned continuously since the early 16th century by the Schmid family, who were first mentioned in 1537 with Caspar Schmit am Raut zu Gries . The builders on the Raut can already be traced back to 1363 with Ullin am Raut and 1377 with Hainricus on Geraut de Arena . In a property record of Schäftlarn monastery from 1435, which had its South Tyrolean property focus in Gries, Adam am Raut is named as the interest giver. The same Adam Gendel am Rawt acted from 1434 to 1439 as the church provost of the old St. Mary's Parish Church in Gries , as did Hannszel Gandel am Räwt in 1439/40. In a district court document from 1487, Cristoffel am Raut appears as tax collector at Hayngarten , i.e. as the sovereign tax collector of the former Gries district of Haimgarten (≈ Moritzing).

1784 acquired Joseph Smith on Oberrautnerhof to Meal of semolina native the Inwohnerrecht the city of Bolzano, just as in 1810 Johann Smith, Oberrautner to semolina .

In 1899, the Schmid family had the Schmid-Oberrautner villa adjacent to the north built by master builder Josef Bittner in the Überetsch style .

The farm, which is still used today for the wine industry , was placed under monument protection in 1951 due to its historical and architectural importance .
