Schneider Busbetriebe (officially O. Schneider AG ), based in Ermenswil, is a bus company that operates two bus routes in the cantons of St. Gallen and Zurich .

The company is based in Ermenswil , where the only bus depot is located. The company owns nine buses and employs 18 drivers. Schneider Busbetriebe transport 1.35 million passengers annually. Schneider Busbetriebe is a member of the Ostwind tariff association ; Parts of the route network belong to the Zürcher Verkehrsverbund .

history

The company emerged from the carrier company founded by Johannes Matthias Schneider in the mid-19th century .

The public bus route Rapperswil - Eschenbach SG - Rüti was put into operation in 1944.

In 1961, Oskar Schneider-Flepp took over the business from Albert Schneider-Elsner. In 1974 the sole proprietorship was converted to a family stock corporation. In 1984 the management was re-appointed by Oskar Schneider-Jaggi and Anton Schneider-Graf.

The LinthBus company was founded in 1992 by PostBus , Weesen-Amden and Schneider Busbetriebe. At the same time, the line network was expanded to Wattwil .

In 2006, the Rapperswil-Jona city ​​bus was launched on the occasion of the merger of the two municipalities, the lines of which had to be handed over to the rival Verkehrsbetriebe Zürichsee and Oberland just two years later due to a lost public tender . Those quarters (Südquartier, Hanfländer and Lenggis) were opened up in 1974, 1991 and 2002 by the Schneider bus companies.

In 2007 the subsidiaries O. Schneider Linienbus AG for public transport and Schneider-Reisen AG for coach trips were founded.

Since 2010, the Rüti – Eschenbach – Neuhaus – Uznach line has been operated together with PostBus.

Line network

Schneider Busbetriebe operate two LinthBus bus routes on behalf of the federal government , canton and municipalities , one of which is shared with Postauto AG.
