Eschenbach is located above the Lake Zurich municipality of Schmerikon , east of the city of Rapperswil-Jona . The community consists of the villages Eschenbach, Neuhaus, Bürg, Diemberg, Ermenswil and Lütschbach and, since January 1, 2013, Goldingen , Hintergoldingen, Oberholz, St. Gallenkappel , Rüeterswil and Walde.

On December 31, 2014, 9,026 people lived in Eschenbach, the proportion of foreigners was 15%. 59.8% of the population were Catholic, 17.4% were Reformed and 22.8% were of other faiths.

The bypass road A53 relieves traffic through the village center of Eschenbach. In Neuhaus, the main road 8 leads to the Rickenpass and thus connects the See-Gaster region with the Toggenburg .

Eschenbach has no connection to the rail network, which is why there is no train station in Eschenbach. As part of the Ostwind tariff association, Eschenbach has bus routes to the stations of Schmerikon , Uznach , Rüti ZH , Wattwil and Rapperswil-Jona .
