The high-speed line Mumbai – Ahmedabad from Mumbai to Ahmedabad is the first planned high-speed line in India .

Routing

The 508 km long route is to be built from 2018 and opened in 2023 and will cost 1,070 billion rupees (€ 15 billion). The line is built in 1435 mm standard gauge and has 11 stations, four of which are in Maharashtra and seven in Gujarat . To the north of Mumbai there is said to be a 21-kilometer-long underground section, which includes a 7-kilometer-long submarine tunnel.

25 E5 Shinkansen vehicles will be purchased for operation at a cost of 50 billion rupees. They consist of 10 cars and have 698 seats in the second and 55 seats in the first class. There should be special toilets for men and women in different cars.

The trains should travel a top speed of 350 km / h. The express trains only stop in Surat and Vadodara and are supposed to cover the entire route in 2 hours and 7 minutes. The trains stopping everywhere take just under 3 hours. There are to be 35 trains per day and direction, with two pairs of express trains traveling per hour, and even three at peak hours. The forecast is for 36,000 passengers per day.
