Schoenebeck is the name of a Rhenish-Westphalian noble family . Various branches of the family still exist today.

history

origin

Formerly Schonbeck, Schonebeck, Schonenbeck u. written in a similar way, the family first appeared in a document at the end of the 16th century on the Lower Rhine, then also on the Middle Rhine. The family line begins with a traditional Hermann von Schoenebeck (* around 1540) and his son Peter , who has only been handed down as a son, but is documented.

Lines

Peter von Schoenebeck worked as court secretary in Kleve in 1595 , then as a judge in Soest in 1598 and finally from 1626 as a judge in Mettmann . His son Gerhard v. Sch. was adjutant to his father in 1632 and followed him in 1633 as a judge in Mettmann. Later Gerhard v. Sch. Schultheiß in Frechen , Vogt of the Bergheim Office and Bergischer Landschreiber. Through his marriage to Sibylla von der Lippe, he came into possession of the Asperschlag estate in Bergheim - Niederaussem in the Rhein-Erft district . He also owned the Leuschhof in Cologne-Urbach and was the hereditary tenant of the Lohfelder Weiher and the Grafenwerth island in Bad Honnef . His son Peter Dietrich v. Sch. († Düsseldorf 1688) was Bergischer Landschreiber, Electoral Palatinate Court Chamber Councilor and Chief War Commissioner in Düsseldorf. In 1665 he married Maria Elisabeth von der Hoven called Pampus for the second time . She brought him the Düsternau estate near Peterslahr with the properties in Steinshof in the Neustadt (Wied) community , in Hinterplag in the Asbach community and in Johannisberg in the Windhagen community . His son Johann Wilhelm Leopold v. Sch. (1685–1755) as well as his son Johann Michael Joseph v. Sch. (1718–1761) took over this property.   • Rhenish line: the progenitor is Franz Gabriel von Schoenebeck (1739–1785), whose son Caspar Anton (1777–1856, royal Prussian gendarmerie - sergeant ) received the Prussian nobility recognition on October 30, 1829. This line branched out in many layers, especially in the northern district of Neuwied .
  • Bavarian line: the progenitor is Franz August von Schoenebeck (1787–1861, royal Bavarian Rhine customs officer). He was enrolled in the Bavarian aristocratic class on March 1, 1825 and was a son of the doctor and philosopher Bernhard Constantin v. Sch. (1760–1835) from first marriage.
  • Siegen line: the progenitor is Leopold von Schoenebeck (1821–1877, businessman), son of Bernhard Constantin v. Sch. from second marriage.

In blue, a silver wave bar accompanied by 3 (2.1) silver roses . On the crowned helmet with blue-silver covers a silver rose between open, silver on the right, blue on the left.

In the coat of arms of the Westphalian nobility, three silver ostrich feathers are shown as a helmet ornament .

The municipality of Windhagen in the district of Neuwied has, based on the Schoenebeck family coat of arms, in the second field a blue wavy bar in a silver field, three 5-petalled roses with red clusters.
