The Schoren (own name: Schor , Russian Шорцы Schorzy ) are a small indigenous people of Siberia . The Shoric language belongs to the Turkic family .

Population and settlement area

In the census of 2002 13,975 people stated their ethnicity as Schorisch. Most of them (11,554) lived in Kemerovo Oblast , while 1,078 people were registered in the Republic of Khakassia and 141 in the Republic of Altai .

Shamanism is widespread in many families, and areas of competence are precisely defined, especially healings with animal sacrifices , hunting magic , childbirth and cursing .

politics

In Russia, the shores are assigned to the group of small indigenous peoples of the Russian north, Siberia and the Russian Far East , which are organized in the umbrella organization RAIPON .

Literature and music

In the novel The newcomer from michael ebmeyer the Schoren, play an important role in particular a Shorian musician and shaman. The Shoric musician Tschyltys (alias Olga Tannagaschewa) served the author as a model for the character in the novel. The novel was filmed under the title Siberia of all places in 2012.
