The Shostakovich Peninsula is a snow-covered peninsula in the south of the West Antarctic Alexander I Island . It lies north of the Stravinsky Inlet and protrudes into the brook ice shelf .
The British Directorate of Overseas Surveys mapped them in cooperation with the United States Geological Survey using satellite images provided by NASA . The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it on December 20, 1974 after the Soviet composer Dmitri Shostakovich (1906-1975).
