Schtepivka ( Ukrainian Штепівка , Russian Штеповка Schtepowka ) is a village in the center of the Ukrainian Sumy Oblast with about 1200 inhabitants (2004).
The village, first mentioned in writing around 1670, is located in the north of Lebedyn Rajon . In the north of the village, the N 07 trunk road runs in an east-west direction , via which the Sumy oblast center can be reached after 38 km in a westerly direction. The Lebedyn district center can be reached via the T – 19–06 territorial road after 33 km in a southerly direction.
Schtepiwka is the center of the same District municipality with about 1450 inhabitants that even the villages Hutnyzke ( Гутницьке , ⊙ ) with about 25 population, Ruda ( Руда , ⊙ ) of about 110 population and the settlement Nowopetriwka ( Новопетрівка , ⊙ ) having also approximately 110 inhabitants.
Personalities
In the village of 1809 came the Ukrainian poet, translator and folklorist Ivan Roskovschenko ( Іван Васильович Росковшенко ; 1809-1889) and on November 18, July. / November 30, 1890 greg. the Ukrainian- Soviet politician Hryhorij Hrynko (1890–1938) to the world.
