Shumabai Shayakmetov

Schumabai Schajachmetuly Schajachmetow ( Kazakh Жұмабай Шаяхметұлы Шаяхметов , Russian Жумабай Шаяхметович Шаяхметов Schumabai Schajachmetowitsch Schajachmetow ; * the thirtieth August 1902 in the district of Omsk Oblast Akmolinsk, Russian Empire ; † 17th October 1966 in Alma-Ata , Kazakh SSR ) was a Soviet politician .

Life

Shumabai Shayakhmetov was born into a poor peasant family. From 1915 he attended a Kazakh-Russian school, which he graduated two years later. From 1919 Schajachmetow worked as a teacher. From 1921 to 1923 he was secretary of a regional revolutionary committee in Akmolinsk Oblast. He then worked for three years for the workers 'and peasants' militia in the Tscherlak district. Between 1926 and 1928 he was a trainer for a district committee of the mass organization Koschtschi, which campaigned for the interests of the peasants in the areas of Central Asia. From 1928 Schajachmetow worked for the Interior Ministry of the USSR , where he was deputy head of the regional directorate for North Kazakhstan from 1936 and deputy head of the office in Alma-Ata from May to July 1938 .

On July 14, 1938, following a decision by the first plenary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Kazakhstan, he became the party's third secretary, and only about a year later he became the party's second secretary by a decision of the third plenary Central Committee. On September 14, 1946, he became the first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party. He replaced Nikolai Skworzow , who had held this post since 1938. Shayakhmetov was the first ethnic Kazakh to head the Central Committee. He led the Communist Party for nearly eight years until he was released on March 6, 1954. From 1950 to 1954 he was also chairman of the Council of Nationalities of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR .

From October 14, 1952 to February 14, 1956, Shayakhmetov was also a member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union . From February 1954 to May 1955 he was the first secretary of the regional committee of the Communist Party in the South Kazakhstan Oblast.

Shayakhmetov died in Alma-Ata in 1966.
