Nikolai Belyaev ( Russian Николай Ильич Беляев ; born January 19 . Jul / 1. February  1903 greg. In Ufa Governorate , Russian Empire ; † 28. October 1966 in Moscow ) was a Soviet and Kazakh politicians.

Life

Belyayev became a member of the Komsomol and the Communist Party of the Soviet Union ( CPSU ) in 1921 at the age of 18 . He had studied economics from 1925 and was a party official at an early age. In 1939 he started as the Party's First Secretary for the Novosibirsk Region , and from 1943 to 1955 he was the First Secretary for the Altai Region . Supported by the First Secretary of the Party Nikita Khrushchev , he came to Moscow and held the position of Secretary of the Central Committee from July 12, 1955 to November 12, 1958 . In 1957 the attempt of the old Stalinists to Malenkov , Molotov , Kaganowitsch and others to depose Khrushchev as party leader failed . Belyayev rose to the highest political body in the USSR, he became a full member of the Politburo of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union (CPSU) from June 29, 1957 to May 4, 1960. At the same time, he held the post of first from 1957 to 1960 Secretary of the Central Committee of Kazakhstan . In 1959 he was heavily criticized for the failures of the harvests in Kazakhstan and the actions of the authorities during the riots in Temirtau . Politburo member Frol Kozlov , the second man after Khrushchev, obtained the removal of Belyayev as head of the Communist Party of Kazakhstan in Alma-Ata in January 1960 . So the Khrushchev supporter also left the Politburo. Now in 1960 he was first secretary of the Stavropol region for a short time , after which he sank into insignificance.
