The flood peak is 1,550 m high and rocky mountain in the East Antarctic Victoria Land . In the Convoy Range it rises about 7 km west-northwest of Mount Gunn on the southern edge of the Staten Island Heights .
The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named him in 1999 after Karen Schwall, first female officer in the United States Army in Antarctica , who was involved in logistical operations by ship and air from 1988 to 1991 and worked for Antarctic Support Associates from 1991 to 1996 .
