The Schwarzach is a 22 km long right and approximately southern tributary of the Danube near Riedlingen in the district of Biberach in eastern Baden-Württemberg .

geography

course

The Schwarzach flows under the name Stadtbach from a pond in the garden of the Sießen monastery in Bad Saulgau - Sießen . This initially runs towards the north-east of the city center of Saulgau with a comparatively high gradient and takes in the Zeller Bach from the right, which is even somewhat longer at the confluence . In Saulgau it first turns to the north-north-west and then runs in an arc that turns very slowly on a north-north-east course, which it will only reach after more than half of its run in the Donauaue.

Below the closed settlement area of Saulgau, it is called Schwarzach from Wolfenmühle. It runs in a fairly flat and wide hollow, past Herbertingen on the left on the hills in front of the Danube valley and the associated village of Marbach on the right slope. After that, it passes on the left edge of the AUe this almost fills Schwarzachtalseen , a group of lakes, they in their area from the district of Sigmaringen in the district of Biberach changes.

At the next Ertingen on the right side of the run, it has reached the edge of the Danube plain. A little below it runs parallel to the Danube in an almost dead straight ditch, below and at a distance from the Riedlingen district of Neufra on the right slope of the valley. It then crosses the right-Danubian part of the settlement of Riedlingen itself. A little below it flows into the Danube from the right at the town's Vöhringer Hof .
