Erisdorf is a village in the municipality of Ertingen in the western district of Biberach , Baden-Württemberg , about 5 km south-east of Riedlingen . The place is located around a water-rich basin in which the Röthenbach , a tributary of the Schwarzach , rises and where there are mighty tufa deposits. The village consists of a horseshoe-shaped district on the plateau (Oberdorf) and a district around the small valley of the Röthenbach (Unterdorf) near Neufra . Erisdorf extends with the village center and modern settlements from the moraine plateau of the Riss glaciation down to the valley of the Röthenbach.

The formerly independent village was incorporated into Ertingen in 1975. In 2009 there were 449 inhabitants in Erisdorf. The number of inhabitants rose to 488 by the end of 2013.

history

Erisdorf 1589, map by Philipp Renlin

Finds from the Neolithic and Bronze Ages, as well as the location on the Celtic primal road, point to a very early settlement, of which the "Rauhe Lehen" testifies, a heaped hill possibly above the graves of a pre-Roman dynasty. During excavations in 1859, the Riedlinger Altertumsverein found three Alemannic row graves from the Merovingian period on the southern outskirts in the area of the former gravel pit . A lance tip with a spout ring and a sword with a scabbard ornamentation in brass were also included. The original Alemannic settlement took place in the earlier expansion period in the 7th century, which is also suggested by the place name on -dorf.

In Roman times, an old Roman road , also called Heerstrasse, ran past Erisdorf from Ennetach .

Roman building remnants, which suggest a Roman manor house ( villa rustica ), were found in aerial photographs near Erisdorf in 1984/85 .

The place name is mentioned for the first time in 1311 on the occasion of the sale of the goods of the knight Heinrich gen. Fleke / Flekke to Salem Monastery , in the form of "Eringsdorf". The place was the price for the castle at Pflimmern sold by Count Wolfrad von Veringen .

For 1359 there is a reference to a lower nobility family named after the village: Johann von Eringsdorf, Kirchherr in Ringschnait.

The name of the place was written in older documents Ehrensdorf or Eringsdorf. The place was a church branch of Ertingen, but had its own church with a clergyman early on. In 1813 the church became an independent parish church. In the past, the congregation also had the right to appoint the chaplain, whose position is said to have been donated by the congregation in 1403.

From the earliest times, Erisdorf belonged to the Reichenau monastery and to the brothers Heinrich and Eckard von Reischach . The high level of jurisdiction and hunting rights were claimed by the county of Friedberg , under whose spell Erisdorf lay. However, Riedlingen referred to the fact that in 1695 a sovereign commission had decided that the city had exercised high and low authority rights in the three places belonging to its hospital.

Partly as a fief, partly as free property, the Imperial Knights of Hornstein held Erisdorf around 1350. Johann von Hornstein sold it to Heinrich von Reischach. In 1361 Adelheid von Reischach, wife of Walters von Freyberg inherited it, and she sold the Allodium in 1398 to the Riedlingen Hospital . Heinrich also sold the loanable portion of her sons to the hospital and the abbot of Reichenau, at the request of the Riedlingers, abolished the feudal association in 1403. The big tithe stayed with Reichenau and afterwards with Konstanz. From Constance he came to Baden through the new changes. In the documents of Heiligkreuztal there is also a Hans von Eringsdorf who sold a farm in Waldhausen to the monastery in 1594 .

Until the transition to the Kingdom of Württemberg in 1805 and in the administrative area of the Oberamts Riedlingen 1806 had the Riedlinger hospital - or as the head nurse of the mayor and city council Riedlingen- the jurisdiction , chose the bailiff and occupied the court with 12 judges annually from the village.

Ecclesiastically, however, Erisdorf belonged to the parish of Ertingen; Even if there had been an own early mass since 1403, it did not become an independent parish until 1837.

The forest still belongs to the Riedlinger Spital (Spitalwald). Most of the residents of Erisdorf were probably serfs of the hospital until Austria lifted serfdom in 1781.

From the late Middle Ages until 1805, the hospital exercised all rights of rule, including lower jurisdiction and high or blood jurisdiction. It installed the Ammann and elected the 12 village judges . The foundation goes back to the pastor Konrad Manopp.

From 1806 the Kingdom of Württemberg had sovereignty and administered Erisdorf from 1810 as part of the Oberamt Riedlingen .

In 1825, the Höllsäge area and part of the Taubried were marketed.

In 1938 the place came to the district of Saulgau , on January 1, 1973 to the district of Biberach . On January 1, 1975, Erisdorf was incorporated into Ertingen.

Festivals and Traditions

The Alemannic festival of the “ spark fire ” takes place on the Sunday after Lent.

Erisdorf holds a Christmas market every year (since 1996).

Typical for Erisdorf is the traditional “Nuadlafescht”, which was revived in the early 1990s. It is a village festival where local pasta dishes are offered, such as “Zigarnudla” (cigar-shaped noodles).

The "Röthenbächle" (founded in 2003) are typical of the carnival customs in Erisdorf. The Erisdorf carnival begins at the "Glombiga Donschdig" with a white sausage breakfast in the Narrenstüble. After that, the kindergarten is exempted with the music association. After a “Hemadglonker parade” through the village, the party ends in the evening with a party in the fire brigade tent. During the move, the miller is “woken up” at the Erisdorf weighing house and the fool's tree is placed on the village square. The next day the citizens' ball follows. Carnival Sunday with a parade and children's ball marks the end of the festival.

The clothing of the Röthenbächler corresponds to the earlier dress code for the poor population. Those who wanted to look a little more wealthy had their clothes dyed blue. The Röthenbächler wears a dark blue work shirt, the collar and the cuffs are light blue. There are also beige gloves. The leg clothing consists of knee-length beige trousers, knee socks of the same color and brown calf-high shoes. The face is covered with a wooden mask. A white cowl serves as headgear. Over his left shoulder he wears a white tubular flour sack in which small baked breads are packed for the audience at the parades.

Attractions

The grinding mill on the Röthenbach, which is at the lowest point of the valley floor, was mentioned in a document in 1491.

The "Rauhe Lehen" near Erisdorf should possibly be elevated to a monument. However, the State Monuments Office does not want to change the burial mound and preserve the previous formation. For tourists it should be prepared a little and possibly provided with a staircase, it was said in the Ertingen local council.

In 1989 Erisdorf won the silver medal in the competition “ Our village should become more beautiful ” and the federal prize for the village community center in the competition “Design facades - preserve building culture”.

The Landscheune , a private agricultural and domestic museum, is located in Erisdorf .

Parish Church of St. Bartholomew

Parish Church of St. Bartholomew Erisdorf

Above the valley basin with the former mill in the Röthenbachtal is the church village center with the parish church of St. Bartholomew and the cemetery. The church is entered in the monument book as a cultural monument of special importance. A chapel or church is mentioned as early as 1360. The first altar consecration took place on August 20, 1410. Conversions changed the appearance of the church building considerably, mainly through the addition of a semicircular choir in 1710 and the conversion of the transept into a long nave in 1896. The original Gothic shape is particularly evident in the defense tower with loopholes. After the last renovation, which made the church a bit more sober, important works of art could remain in the church, such as the baroque Madonna, St. Wendelin, Konrad and Stefanus.

The cemetery around the church is mentioned in a document around 1590.

Spiegler: Mary venerated by various saints (1721)

In 1721 Franz Joseph Spiegler painted an altarpiece in oil for the parish church Erisdorf Maria by various (Franciscan) saints, venerated by various (Franciscan) saints, with an alliance donor coat of arms. It hangs in the chancel as a central eye-catcher for the church visitor. In the upper third it shows Mary with little Jesus, surrounded by Francis of Assisi , the Franciscans Antonius of Padua and Johann Capistran as well as Nicholas of Myra with his attribute of the bishop's miter, carried by a putti. In the lower half of the picture the Apostle Bartholomäus can be seen as the church patron and the martyr John of Nepomuk . The facial features of St. Nicholas resemble those of Spiegler's St. Joseph in Bronnen (Gammertingen) . In addition to the type of Madonnas originating from Johann Kaspar Sings, the oil painting conveys something of the influence of Northern Italy in the landscape element, for example from the style of Antonio Balestra .
