The Scuttle Valley (colloquially English for orphaned valley ) is a small, ice-free valley occupied by meltwater lakes in the East Antarctic Victoria Land . In the Convoy Range it lies parallel and south of the Towle Glacier . The valley occupies the lower elevations at the northeastern end of the Elkhorn Ridge and is separated from the Towle Glacier by a dolerite ridge 80 m above the valley floor on which the northern flank of the glacier rests.
Scientists from a 1976-1977 campaign by Victoria University's Antarctic Expeditions in New Zealand explored and named the valley. The name of the valley is derived from the finding of the equipment left behind by a parachutist in the vicinity of the valley.
