The company was founded on October 1st, 1982 by Ernst Denert and Ulfried Maiborn under the name sd & m software design and management . sd & m was represented at the German locations in Munich , Stuttgart , Walldorf (Baden) , Frankfurt (Offenbach), Cologne / Bonn (Troisdorf), Düsseldorf , Berlin , Hanover and Hamburg as well as in Zurich and Vienna . There is also a nearshore center in Wrocław , Poland and offshore teams in Mumbai and Bangalore , India.

The company has been part of the Capgemini Group since 2001 . The founder Ernst Denert then left the company. Since October 1, 2008 until then as is subsidiary existing Capgemini sd & m together with the Capgemini business package-based solutions under the common brand Capgemini sd & m out. Since July 1, 2010, the sd & m suffix has been dropped. Since then, the company has only operated under the name Capgemini. The legal company Capgemini sd & m AG ceased to exist in June 2011. The company was merged with Capgemini Deutschland GmbH.
