Sean Lawlor
Sean Lawlor (born January 25, 1954 in Dublin , Ireland ; † October 10, 2009 ibid) was an Irish film and theater actor and playwright .
He completed his training at the Abbey Theater in Dublin . Lawlor played the role of Peter Thompson in the television series Bracken from 1980 to 1982 . This was followed by roles in various Irish film and television productions. In the theater he played in plays such as The Kings of the Kilburn High Road and also wrote his own plays such as the one-person play The Watchman, which premiered in 1988 .
Lawlor achieved international fame in the role of Malcom Wallace in Mel Gibson's period film Braveheart .
He died in October 2009 at the age of 55 as a result of a brief serious cancer illness. After his death, the Sean Lawlor Artists Trust was set up, funded by donations, to provide financial and other assistance to Irish artists in the event of illness.
