Sebastian Freudensprung (born January 14, 1796 in Straubing ; † July 14, 1866 there ) was a Bavarian Catholic clergyman and historian.

Career

Freudensprung was the son of the Straubing Choir Regent of the same name. After graduating from the (today's) Wilhelmsgymnasium in Munich , he completed the compulsory basic course (= philosophy) at the adjoining Lyceum from 1812 and studied law and theology at the University of Landshut from 1814 . He was ordained a priest on September 6, 1818.

After being ordained a priest in 1818, he became a senior high school teacher in Munich . He later worked as a professor at grammar schools in Würzburg , Neuburg an der Donau and Munich. From 1834 to 1837 he worked at the Lyceum in Freising . From 1838 he was rector of the Lyceum in Freising. In 1849 he was a member of the Chamber of Deputies of the Bavarian State Parliament . Freudensprung published a history of the Kingdom of Bavaria in 1856 .
