Sebastian Gärtner (born February 3, 1993 in Nuremberg ) is a German soccer player. He was under contract with SV Waldhof Mannheim in the Regionalliga Südwest from the beginning of 2016 to mid-2017 and was mostly called up in the defensive midfield. His contract in Mannheim expired in July 2017.

Career

Sebastian Gärtner started his career in 1997 at Post SV Nürnberg and in 2005 joined the youth team of 1. FC Nürnberg . There he was promoted to the club's second team in 2011, but was also used for one season in the club's U19 team. He made his debut for the second team on September 10, 2011 in the 1: 2 defeat against the second team of FSV Frankfurt . Coach Michael Wiesinger came on for Mike Frantz in the 60th minute . In the 3-1 win against Hoffenheim II on April 12, 2012, he scored his first goal in the 65th minute in the dress of the Nuremberg team to make it 3-1.

After three seasons in the second team of 1. FC Nürnberg, he moved to the second team of 1. FSV Mainz 05 , which has been promoted to the third division . He made his debut for the new team in the new league under coach Martin Schmidt in the 2-2 draw against SC Fortuna Köln on August 2, 2014. In this game, he was also able to celebrate his first goal when he was in the 25th minute the meanwhile 1: 1 equalization achieved.

After only one season he left the Mainz team and joined SV Waldhof Mannheim after about half a year without a club . He made his debut for Mannheim on March 12, 2016 in a 3-0 win against FC Astoria Walldorf . He was substituted on for Gianluca Korte by coach Kenan Kocak in the 78th minute . With SV Waldhof he was champion of the Regionalliga Südwest, but failed in the promotion round to the 3rd division. Gärtner's contract with SV Waldhof Mannheim expired in July 2017 and was not extended.
