Although he never improved his performance in the first year, Witek was nominated for the 2008 Biathlon World Championships by Östersund . There he was used in the individual and was 104, as well as in the sprint race, in which he ran in 91st place. The 2008 European Biathlon Championships in Nové Město na Moravě went a little better . The Pole finished 60th in the individual, 69th in the sprint and 13th in the relay. The 2008/09 season brought a leap in performance. Witek improved his best World Cup result in a sprint in Hochfilzen to 45th place and now only just missed his first World Cup points.
