Sec61 Translocon β (synonym Sec61β, Sec61B) is a transmembrane protein in vertebrates . It is part of the translocon (Sec61 translocon) for the import of proteins with K D E L - signal sequence from the cytosol into the endoplasmic reticulum .

properties

Sec61 is a heterotrimer in vertebrates and consists of the three proteins Sec61 Translocon α1 ( Sec61A1 ), Sec61B and Sec61G . Sec61 forms a pore with a closure that is opened for proteins with KDEL signal sequence. After translation , the methionine is split off at position 1. It is palmitoylated at the cysteine at position 39 .
