The Secret Machines is an American rock band from Dallas , Texas .

history

The band's debut album, Now Here Is Nowhere , was released in 2004, followed by Ten Silver Drops in 2006. During the two albums mentioned, the band consisted of three members Brandon Curtis, Benjamin Curtis and Josh Garza. Shortly after the formation, the band members moved from Dallas to New York, where they live today.

In 2007 Benjamin Curtis (guitar, vocals) separated from the band in order to pay more attention to his second project, School of Seven Bells . He was replaced by Phil Karnats , who already played with Benjamin Curtis at Polyphonic Spree.

To keep control over their idiosyncratic approach, the band produced both albums themselves. For the production, the musicians teamed up with Jeff Blenkinsopp (as co-producer), who has already worked with bands like Pink Floyd and Hawkwind and who had left the business in the late 1970s . Secret Machines , their third album, was recorded by and with producer Brandon Mason , as was their debut Now Here Is Nowhere .

Benjamin Curtis, the band's former guitarist, died on December 29, 2013 of lymphatic leukemia .

style

Her style can best be described as progressive rock with some Krautrock influences. The band counts itself among the representatives of space rock . Some reviews also speak of a revival of the music genre of Pink Floyd , Led Zeppelin , Can , U2 and others. The band's collaboration and occasional gigs with Michael Rother also fit into this list .
