See No Evil 2 is an American slasher film from the twins Jen and Sylvia Soska from 2014. The film, produced by WWE Studios , is a sequel to See No Evil (2007). As in the first part, Glenn Jacobs, better known as Kane , plays the main role as the murderous psychopath.

action

Amy works in the morgue. The next day is her birthday. At midnight she wants to leave her job, where her work colleague Seth, who is secretly in love with her, and her boss Holden have organized a small party, to celebrate her birthday with her friends. But suddenly an unspecified number of corpses arrive that fell victim to the serial killer Jacob Goodnight (see Part 1). Jacob himself is also among the corpses. Amy cancels her friends and helps Seth cope with the mammoth task.

But her friends do not give up and organize a surprise party in the morgue with their boss Holden. Seth is there too, but Amy's brother Will warns him not to do anything with his sister, who deserves better than him. One of Amy's friends, who is fascinated by serial killers, sneaks up to Jacob's corpse with her boyfriend and the two of them have sex there - until Jacob wakes up and kills them.

Then he begins his bloody deeds on the other party guests to continue until only Will, Seth and Amy remain. When Jacob gets hold of Will, Amy decides to save her brother. But this turns out to be a trap for Jacob, who is now chasing them through the morgue. The two almost manage to escape, but eventually he kills Amy in front of Seth. He then succeeds in attacking Jacob with an embalming machine and stuffing him full of chemicals. Jacob collapses as if dead, which gives Seth the opportunity to escape. He reaches his car and is able to escape.

When he reached the barrier, he got out to open it by hand. However, he has to find out that Jacob was hiding in his car. Jacob kills Seth by squeezing his eyes out. The last tracking shots show Jacob's victims. The film ends with a close-up of Jacob's face. He says, "I see it now."

background

In August 2013, six years after the first film, WWE Studios announced the sequel to See No Evil . Kane or Glenn Jacobs was announced again as the leading actor. The two twin sisters Jen and Sylvia Soska were hired to direct, and with Jacob Goodnight they had a similar franchise in mind as Michael Myers , Freddy Krueger and Jason Voorhees .

The film was shot from September 23, 2013 to October 11, 2013 at the disused Riverview Hospital in Coquitlam , British Columbia , Canada .

The film was released in the United States on October 17, 2014 as video-on-demand via Lionsgate Home Entertainment , subsequently also on Blu-Ray and DVD. Originally a theatrical release was planned, but then it did not take place. In Germany, the film was released on DVD and Blu-Ray on November 30, 2018. After the US version was originally indexed on February 1, 2016 by the Federal Inspectorate for Media Harmful to Young People (BPjM), the decision was revised again in 2018.

Reviews

In contrast to the first part, which was mostly positively discussed, the sequel is viewed as relatively weak. Sebastian Notbom from Gruselseite.de wrote:

“What this sequel has to offer are just a handful of decent splatter and gore effects and a pretty cool killer. That is absolutely not enough for me personally; especially with regard to the first part, which was able to convince with its relatively high-quality production and its brisk pace, despite all the slasher clichés that were long out of date. "

Ryan Larson from ComingSoon.net made a similar statement. The most frustrating thing is to see that the film definitely has potential and that the Soska sisters are also masters of their craft. Unfortunately, however, the film is far too predictable, and in particular the ending has been seen too often.
