The Seebachtal is a left side valley or original valley of the Mallnitz valley in the Hohe Tauern . The Seebach flows through it , which is called Winkelbach in the upper reaches . Most of the valley belongs to the municipality of Mallnitz .

The Seebachtal lies at the transition from the Goldberg group to the Ankogel group in the Tauern window . It extends from the main Alpine ridge over about 14 kilometers first to the west, then to the south, to merge with the Mallnitz Tauern valley to form the Mallnitz valley at Mallnitz . It is a typical trough valley. The level valley floor at around 1300 m was created when a landslide created a large lake, which silted up relatively quickly due to the material of the lake stream that flowed through it. The rest of this lake is the Stappitzer See , which has lost contact with the Seebach (except during high tide), so that the siltation also slowed down.

At the time of the framing , the valley was used as an access to the Korntauern . An important alpine crossing runs through the valley with the Tauernbahn and its Tauern tunnel .

The peaks that line the valley are the Ankogel , the Hochalmspitze , the Säuleck , and the Maresenspitze . There is a ski area on the Ankogel . Refuge huts in the Seebachtal (and its side valleys) are the Celler Hütte , the Hannoverhaus and the Mindener Hütte .
