The Seegraben is a creek at most about 2 km long in the municipality of Bühlertann in the district of Schwäbisch Hall in north-eastern Baden-Württemberg , which flows into the central Bühler from the left and west in the main town of the municipality .

geography

Headwaters

The Seegraben has two upper courses that are quite long compared to its lower reaches, but they only carry water at times. Both are being built near the western border of the municipality to the Mittelfischach suburb of Obersontheim in the sloping forests of the valley watershed between the Bühler and Fischach valleys. Both upper reaches are clearly recognizable in the steeper part in their original forests as meandering, at least occasionally water-bearing gullies with sandy-gravel beds. After crossing into the flat meadowland west of Bühlertann, they run in inconspicuous meadow ditches and sometimes in twisted sections before they reach the edge of the Bühlertann settlement after having passed through a mostly or largely dry retention basin.

The slightly longer left upper course arises in the forest of the western Galgenberg on a path at about 420  m above sea level. NHN . It flows eastwards and also for the first 150 meters after leaving the forest in a clearly deepened ditch, then changes at the foot of a hillside forest on the eastern Galgenberg under a field path into the flat valley meadows, where its course is partly unclear, until it comes to a meadow on North-western edge of the Kreuzäckersiedlung reached the edge of a meadow with a 200-meter-long retention dam that runs along the path on the outskirts. After passing the Grundablass, it moves in this relatively new settlement in a two to three dozen meter wide green strip on mostly public land, first between Enzianweg and Silberdistelweg, then between Kreuzäckerring and Talstraße, where it initially runs through an unstable pond. After crossing under the Kreuzäckerring on the other side, it runs into a fenced-in pond in front of Hohenbergweg, where it joins the other upper course. This upper course is about 1.6 km long and contributes about 0.4 km² to the catchment area.

The right upper course arises in the Mittelwäldle in a small forest edge . It flows first north-east through the forest, later north-north-east through the meadows and also runs through a retention basin on the southwest edge of the settlement area of Bühlertann near the sports field, this one with a small permanent impoundment. Then it follows the settlement boundary as a ditch, finally next to the Hohenbergweg, where it then reaches the fenced-in small union pond. This upper course is about 1.5 km long and contributes about 0.7 km² to the catchment area, but seems to be more volatile than its left counterpart despite the larger drainage area.

course

The Seegraben leaves at about 379  m above sea level. NHN this pond and flows along the Seegrabenweg in a regulated course next to a row of trees to the east. It passes the cemetery and then disappears in an underground pit at the confluence of the Seegrabenweg and Seestrasse. First past commercial buildings, then in the partly loosely built-up area between the old Bühlertann settlement centers around the church square in the north and around the village mill in the south, it runs increasingly northeast. At the bridge of Ellwanger Straße (L 1060) it finally flows from the left to about 374  m above sea level. NHN in the Bühler.

Catchment area

The Seegraben has a catchment area of 1.3 km². It is located in the southern part of the lower natural area Vellberger Bucht of the Hohenlohe and Haller levels . Its highest point is about 436  m above sea level. NHN on the northwest corner on the Galgenberg near the forest path opening up its height above the origin of the left upper course, while above that of the left only about 425  m above sea level. NHN can be reached. Both small plateaus lie on the corbula layer of the gypsum keuper ( grave field formation ), in which the upper courses and stream remain up to the area of the cemetery. There the Lettenkeuper ( Erfurt formation ) of the Bühlerniederung comes in, which only covers a small part of the catchment area.

Behind the Galgenberg-Sporn in the north lies the headwaters of the Eierbach , the next left Bühler tributary below Bühlertann. In the west, the catchment area borders the more important Fischach . Beyond the Hohenberg -sporn in the south, on which the southern watershed runs, the Furtbach , officially named after its valley Keimenklinge [n] bach , strives like Eierbach and Seegraben, but above the village eastwards to the Bühler.

  • (Bach from the western Galgenberg ), left and western upper reaches, approx. 1.6 km and approx. 0.4 km². Arises at about 420  m above sea level. NHN on the western Galgenberg on a lane in the forest about a hundred meters east of the municipality boundary to the Mittelfischach suburb of Obersontheim . 49 ° 2 ′ 23 "  N , 9 ° 52 ′ 57"  E
    • RiverIcon-SmallLake.svgFlows through at about 483  m above sea level. NHN the approximately 200 meter long dam of a backwater structure of a retention basin along the northwestern edge of the Kreuzäckersiedlung, retention area up to 0.7 hectares at most.
    • RiverIcon-SmallLake.svgFlows through to about 481  m above sea level. NHN an unstable pond shortly after crossing the Kreuzäckerrings, under 0.1 ha.
  • (Bach from the Mittelwäldle ), right and west-southwest upper reaches, approx. 1.5 km and approx. 0.7 km². Arises at about 410  m above sea level. NHN in a small forest , sword in Mittelwäldle also about a hundred meters east of the municipal boundary to the central fish Acher Teilortgemarkung of Obersontheim. 49 ° 2 ′ 0 ″  N , 9 ° 53 ′ 7 ″  E
    • RiverIcon-SmallLake.svgFlows through to about 482  m above sea level. NHN the tiny permanent pond of a retention basin just before the Bühlertann settlement boundary at the end of the Hartweg, a maximum of 0.4 ha.

Mouth of the Seegraben from the left and west to about 374  m above sea level. NHN in Bühlertann under the road bridge of Ellwanger Straße in the middle Bühler . The stream is 0.6 km long from the union of its upper courses, together with the longer of its two upper courses about 2.2 km long and has a catchment area of about 1.3 km².

landscape

Outside the settlement boundary of Bühlertann, meadows take up most of the area. On the spurs of Galgenberg and Hohenberg , which border the catchment area, there are forests, on its western edge they are almost closed. On the front Galgenberg spur, the heather areas of the 2.3 hectare Galgenberg natural monument near Bühlertann are partly on the slope to the left Seegraben upper course, and partly to the Eierbach.
