In the course of the reconstruction of Hallstatt in the southern Chinese province of Guangdong , which is particularly popular with Asian tourists , and which the 800 residents of the Austrian original only found out about when the construction work was at an advanced stage, the Seehotel Grüner Baum, which is particularly distinctive for Hallstatt, was also rebuilt. Together with the Evangelical Church, it was one of the first buildings to be completed. The owner of the hotel, Monika Wenger, was the first to find out about the plans from Hallstatt and shared them with the public. This led to worldwide reporting.
