activities
Many age groups and boat classes are represented in the Münster sailing club . The members range from recreational sailors on the Aasee to successful regatta sailors to cruising sailors who go on high-sea trips with yachts . In addition to strong youth work, the SCM primarily offers training courses and has also been integrating a company sports group for many years.
In addition, the sailing club Munster has since the establishment of " invalids developed -Segelgruppe" in the SCM (1954) as one of the focal points of sailing for people with disabilities in Germany.
The SCM is the home club of numerous participants in national, European and world championships. Jonas Busch won the world championship in the H-boat in 1995 and Jens-Magnus Bothe in 2004 the world championship in the X-99 class. The SCM is represented internationally primarily in the pirate class , in the former Olympic star boat and on various offshore regattas. In addition to regatta sailing, recreational sailing on the Aasee and cruising sailing on the North and Baltic Seas are also offered for the disabled . About once a month a sailing trip on the Aasee is organized for patients of the technical orthopedics of the University Hospital Münster .
The sailing club Münster organizes several regattas , including the Aaseepokal der Piraten , the largest ranking regatta of the national pirate boat class with over 100 participating ships every year. Due to the large number of participants and the size of the lake, the alignment takes place according to special regulations - only half of the participating boats start in each race, the rest receive a did not start . This result will be balanced again in the next race.
The club is also the organizer of competitive regattas of the Disabled Sports Association of North Rhine-Westphalia e. V. (BSNW). - From June 8 to 10, 2007, a section of the BMW Sailing Cup 2007 took place in the sailing club's area , during which six yachts with a total of more than 800 amateur sailors competed against each other at 14 German venues.
Since 2010, the Münster sailing club has been organizing the BM Classic Open , a national regatta for BM dinghies .
