The Seidel GmbH & Co. KG is a medium-sized German companies in the metalworking industry with headquarters in Marburg , the industrial companies in the cosmetic - and pharmaceutical industries as well as manufacturers of writing and housewares with primary packaging made of aluminum and plastic supplies.
history
The company was founded in 1830 by A. Louis Seidel as a pewter foundry in Marburg, making it one of the oldest continuously existing companies in the metal casting industry in the region. In 1972 Hermann Ritzenhoff took over the company from the Seidel family.
In 2017 and 2018, the entire Seidel workforce donated over 3,300 collected overtime hours to one of their colleagues, whose son was seriously ill with leukemia, following a call from the management. The action triggered a nationwide media response. As a result, the employees of Seidel GmbH & Co. KG and its sister company Carus GmbH & Co. KG were honored at the end of March 2018 by the Hessian Finance Minister Thomas Schäfer on behalf of the Hessian state government as "People of Respect". The company sees the donation as confirmation of its good corporate culture.

The headquarters of Seidel GmbH & Co. KG is in Marburg ( Hesse ). The company has another production site in Fronhausen and a logistics center in Dreihausen .
The competence of the metal processor consists in the development, aluminum forming through multi-stage deep drawing , surface refinement through anodizing , assembly of the complete primary packaging as well as the logistics for the resource-saving combination of all production steps .
With around 700 employees at three locations in Central Hesse , Seidel produces around 350 million parts a year. The products are u. a. Cream jars, mascara and lipstick tubes with mechanical plastic components, bottle caps and matching collars. According to his own statement, Seidel is the “world market leader in the field of aluminum design products”.
LED lights are produced for Carus at the Fronhausen plant. The cost of materials and the weight of the individual luminaires are 60 percent lower than with other LED luminaires.
Awards
- The newly built production building in Fronhausen was awarded the Domico building prize in 2006 and the Simon Louis du Ry plaque for good architecture in Hesse in 2008 .
- 2018: “Family-friendly company” award from the university town of Marburg and the Marburg-Biedenkopf district in the “Large Company” category.
- Because of its high social and environmental standards, the Carus luminaire was the first and so far only product among the LED luminaires to be awarded the Blue Angel .
