Seidenmatt is a post-rock band from Berlin .

history

Seidenmatt was founded in 2001 by Jan Heinemann ( guitar ), Florian Koller ( bass ), Matthias Horn ( drums ) and Martin Eichhorn (samples) in Berlin . The band is dedicated to post-rock . The particularly rhythmically oriented and harmonic-heavy music often unfolds in long songs in which tonal dynamics and seemingly monumental increases are popular stylistic devices. The music is influenced by bands like Mogwai and Sigur Rós .

Originally only instrumental music was played, including on the debut Wasserluft (2003). At that time Seidenmatt toured with well-known bands such as Amplifier . In 2004 a split 10 "was released together with the Swiss post-rock band Honey for Petzi from Lausanne . Already on the follow-up to the debut album , If You Use This Software Often - Buy It (also: IYUTSO-BI , 2005) , experimented with singing, which at that time was still contributed by Felix Räuber, the singer of the Dresden band Polarkreis 18 , with whom they also gave concerts.

Sebastian Cleemann has been singing since 2007 and - just like with Kate Mosh  - plays guitar and keyboard . In contrast to the two previous albums, the songs on The Goal Is to Make the Animals Happy (2007) are less excessive, sometimes significantly shorter. Guest players with horn, trumpet and cello added additional accents to the recordings. According to their own information, the band name was changed from Seidenmatt to SDNMT when the album was released.
