Soaps (Dippoldiswalde)

The small hamlet of Seifen between Paulsdorf and Seifersdorf is a threshing house settlement of the Berreuth manor . It is part of the large district town of Dippoldiswalde in the Saxon district of Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Ore Mountains .

history

Around 1500 there were several soap ponds on the upper heath where gold was soaped. In 1590 Seifen belonged to the Dippoldiswalde office , in 1856 to the Dippoldiswalde court office and in 1875 to the Dippoldiswalde administration . In 1952, Seifen became part of the Dippoldiswalde district , which became part of the Weißeritz district in 1994 . In 1639 the place was burned down by the Swedes and all but one of the residents survived. Only in 1650 did the construction of some houses begin. Today's Schurig tree nursery was founded in 1913.

Place name forms

In 1465 the place was known as "in the Seiffen", 1501 the place was written "Seyffen". In 1564, Seiffen was the common spelling, from 1625 the spelling with just an F became common.
