The SSB special Oortkaten was a shipyard in Hamburg's Ochsenwerder . The company built and waited in focus, the passenger ferries of HADAG AG in Hamburg and in 2000 from the Heinrich-Grube-yard emerged. In December 2013, the company filed for bankruptcy and, according to the entry in the commercial register on February 28, 2014, is considered dissolved.

Heinrich Grube shipyard

Heinrich Grube founded a shipbuilding company in Kirchwerder in 1865 to repair and build small river boats made of wood. The company was relocated to Kirchwerder - Warwisch by his son Reimer Hermann and converted from wooden shipbuilding to iron shipbuilding. The grandson Heinrich Grube jr. expanded the shipyard facilities to also build larger ships.

The shipyard was relocated to the port of Oortkaten on the Elbe in 1962 after the great storm surge . Mainly large inland vessels up to 3,000 tons were built here, but also other inland and port vessels. This company went bankrupt in 1999.

After the insolvency of Heinrich Grube Werft KG , the shipyard was taken over and renovated in 2000 by the former limited partner , the 60-year-old shipbuilding engineer Klaus Schlünzen, who had worked for Grube since 1962, and SSB Spezialschiffbau Oortkaten GmbH was founded. The SSB specialized in the construction of new passenger ships for inland waters. Schlünzen played a key role in the development of the 2000 series - popularly known as the "iron" because of its shape - for HADAG . In addition to the optimal use of the transport space, the 2000 series is particularly characterized by its economic efficiency and one-man operation, which is unique on German waters.

After Klaus Schlünzen's death in 2008, his partner Renate Schütte took over the SSB. In autumn 2013, Álvaro L. Moreno was appointed as managing director.

The family company with 16 employees filed for bankruptcy in December 2013 due to financial burdens and problems with building financing for a new flat ferry worth one million euros, which was to be delivered to HADAG in spring 2014. At the end of July 2014, the new building was finally completed for two million euros, christened Reiherstieg and the 13 remaining employees fired.
