The Blue Dragon or ( Chinese  青龍  /  青龙 , Pinyin Qīng Lóng ) is one of the four symbols of the Chinese star constellations , which are also known as "miracle animals". It is also called the "Blue Dragon of the East" ( 東方 青龍  /  东方 青龙 , Dōngfāng Qīng Lóng ) and represents spring and the east. It should not be confused with the yellow dragon ( 黃龍  /  黄龙 , Huáng Lóng ), which symbolizes the Chinese emperor.

The blue dragon was used not only by the Chinese, but also by the Vietnamese, Koreans and Japanese. In Japanese it is called Seiryū , in Korean Cheong-ryong ( 청룡 ) and in Vietnamese Thanh Long .
