Elmar Wolf

Elmar Wolf (* 14. August 1939 in spell at Kaiserslautern , † 8. November 2006 in Queidersbach ) was a German brass band , composer , orchestra conductor, music publisher and producer.

Life

Elmar Wolf studied trombone and theory at the Palatinate Conservatory in Kaiserslautern at the age of 14 . After his first musical experience in the dance band of his father Ernst Wolf, he made contacts with well-known Czech composers such as Karel Vacek , Jaromír Vejvoda and others.

Wolf became known above all through his collaboration with Ernst Mosch , with whose original Egerland musicians he played the trombone from 1975 to 1986.

In 1977 Wolf founded Ewoton Music Publishing and two years later, together with Mosch, Mosch Music Publishing. They published the original arrangements by Ernst Mosch and his original Egerland musicians in print. In 1986 Wolf and Mosch parted ways.

In 1989 Wolf founded his own orchestra, Elmar Wolf and the New Egerländer . His special merit was u. a. that he was able to attract many well-known musicians who had previously played for Ernst Moschs Egerländer for a long time. His son Bernd Wolf played the drums . In 1997 he took over Ewoton Musikverlag and has since founded his own orchestra. In 1998, one year after Ewoton was handed over to his son, Elmar Wolf founded another music publisher, Edition Musikantenland . This has been continued by his grandson Patrick Wolf since his death. Together with Georg Ried , Wolf published a picture biography of Ernst Mosch and his orchestra in his publishing house in 1999.

EWOTON music publisher

In 1977 Elmar Wolf founded EWOTON Musikverlag to specialize in the printing and distribution of the original arrangements of the "Original Egerland Musicians". As a result, works by the well-known Czech composers Antonín Borovička , Karel Vacek , Josef Poncar , Jaromír Vejvoda and many others as well as their original arrangements etc. a. by Franz Bummerl , Gerald Weinkopf and Freek Mestrini .

The publishing program was gradually expanded to include works and arrangements by Franz Watz , Manfred Schneider , Walter Tuschla and Karl-Heinz Bell .

Even before 1989 , Wolf recognized the musical potential in the then still existing GDR . Works by Siegmund Goldhammer and Otto Wagner were published even before the fall of the Wall .

In 1997 he withdrew from the management of the publishing house and passed it on to his son.

At the beginning of 2011 , Elmar Wolf's grandson, Patrick Wolf, joined the management team. The publishing house is now in its 3rd generation as a family business.

For his publishing activities and his services to music, Elmar Wolf received several awards, including the Robert Stolz Certificate of Honor and the Lichtenberg Prize of the Kuseler Musikantenland .
