history

Local history

The community was first mentioned in a document in 976 when Emperor Otto II donated land on the Quideresbach to his vassal Biso .

Until the end of the 18th century, the village of Queidersbach belonged to the so-called Grand Court of Landstuhl , which was owned by the Barons von Sickingen of the line to Hohenburg. In 1794 the left bank of the Rhine was occupied in the First Coalition War.

From 1798 to 1814, when the Palatinate was part of the French Republic (until 1804) and then part of the Napoleonic Empire , Queidersbach was incorporated into the canton of Landstuhl in the Donnersberg department and was the seat of a mairie that also included linden trees. Due to the agreements made at the Congress of Vienna , the area first came to Austria in June 1815 and was ceded to the Kingdom of Bavaria in 1816 on the basis of a state treaty . Under the Bavarian administration, Queidersbach belonged to the Landkommissariat Homburg im Rheinkreis from 1817 on , which was converted into a district office in 1862.

Since part of the district office - including Homburg itself - was added to the newly created Saar area in 1920 , the place moved to the district office of Kaiserslautern and was administered by a district office branch located in Landstuhl until 1938 . The community has been part of the Kaiserslautern district since 1939 . After the Second World War , Trippstadt became part of the then newly formed state of Rhineland-Palatinate and the administrative district of Palatinate within the French occupation zone . In the course of the first administrative reform in Rhineland-Palatinate , the place was incorporated into the newly created community of Kaiserslautern-Süd in 1972 .

In the competition Our village should become more beautiful, the municipality won the silver medal in 1977 and the bronze medal four years later. Queidersbach has been part of the new Landstuhl Association since July 1, 2019 , which arose from the merger of the old Landstuhl Association with the Kaiserslautern-Süd Association.

Surname

The place name is derived from the old German nickname "Quidhari". The name “Quidhari” is made up of the two components “quid” (= “to talk”) and “hari” (today's “army”). “Quidhari” therefore means “warriors” or “herald”. It should be noted that Germanic and old German names were usually put together arbitrarily and therefore do not always make a clear sense. A man named "Quidhari" gave the brook its name at this point, later a settlement was built there, which was named after the water. Queidersbach thus joins the group of numerous places that end in "-bach" and that arose everywhere in the western or northern Palatinate and far beyond at the time of the state expansion.

The place name established in the present is first mentioned in writing in 1535. Other traditional place names or spellings are: "Quideresbach" (976), "The court of Quidersbach" (1347), "Henze von Quidersbach" (1374), "Quiderspach" (1434), "Queiderspach" (1456), "Queyderßbach "(1457) and" Queidersbacher Hof "(1487).
