Gerhardsbrunn is a municipality in the Kaiserslautern district in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the community of Bruchmühlbach-Miesau .

geography

The community is located on the Sickinger Höhe . The hamlet Scharrhof and the residential area Scharrmühle also belong to Gerhardsbrunn .

history

Gerhardsbrunn was first mentioned in a document around 1560.

Until the end of the 18th century, the village of Gerhardsbrunn belonged to the so-called small court of the Landstuhl rule , which was owned by the barons of Sickingen of the line to Sickingen.

In 1794 the left bank of the Rhine was occupied in the First Coalition War. From 1798 to 1814 Gerhardsbrunn belonged to the canton Landstuhl in the Donnersberg department .

Due to the agreements made at the Congress of Vienna , the area first came to Austria in June 1815 and was ceded to the Kingdom of Bavaria in 1816 on the basis of a state treaty . Under the Bavarian administration, Gerhardsbrunn belonged to the Landkommissariat Homburg im Rheinkreis from 1817 , from 1862 to the District Office Homburg, moved to the District Office Kaiserslautern in 1929 and has been part of the Kaiserslautern District since 1939 .

After the Second World War , the Gerhardsbrunn community within the French occupation zone became part of the Palatinate government district in the then newly formed state of Rhineland-Palatinate .

Jürgen Bohl is the local mayor of Gerhardsbrunn. Since there was no candidate in 2014, the mayor of the community of Bruchmühlbach-Miesau temporarily administered the community for several years. Even in the direct election on May 26, 2019, no candidate for the post of local mayor ran. After the local elections, however, Jürgen Bohl agreed to take over the office and was elected by the local council on July 3, 2019.
