history
Frankelbach essentially shares the history of the entire Palatinate. Traces of early Celtic settlements cannot be definitely proven, but can be assumed. The term "Teufelsstein" should refer to the Celts. In addition, the street name "Ruhling" speaks for an old Roman road that ran along here. Ruhling comes etymologically from the word “Reuel”, in the Palatinate “Raul”, which means narrow, narrow passage. Raul, in turn, can be derived from the Latin “rivulus”. The preservation of this name speaks for a continuity of settlement since Roman times, as the names for streets in the past were only passed on orally from generation to generation.
Frankelbach belonged to the district of Kusel from 1939 on . After the administrative reform in 1971, the community moved to the district of Kaiserslautern .
