coat of arms
Blazon : "Above a lowered, curved silver tip, in it a black L, in black a golden crook, flanked on the right by a red-armored silver double-headed eagle, on the left by a red-armored and -tipped golden lion." | |
Justification of the coat of arms: In the Middle Ages the church in Lambsborn was consecrated to St. Lambert , Bishop of Liège. The crook stands for him as well as for the Hornbach monastery as patron saint. The double-headed eagle reminds of the Counts of Saar Werden as former local lords in Lambsborn, the lion of the dukes of Pfalz-Zweibrücken, the successors in the local rulership and at the same time bailiffs of Hornbach Abbey. A Lambsborn seal from 1769 also shows this lion. The initial L of the place name was taken from the boundary stones. The colors of the dukes of Pfalz-Zweibrücken and the diocese of Metz are related to black and gold or black and silver. |
