geography
Hauptstuhl is located on the edge of the Palatinate Forest 22 km west of Kaiserslautern . In the north, Hauptstuhl has a share in the West Palatinate Moorniederung, also known as Landstuhler Bruch . South of the village rises the densely wooded Sickinger step, the edge of the Sickinger Höhe .

history
Hauptstuhl was first mentioned in a document in 1547 as a Habstall . The place did not emerge until the 16th century and was close to the Ruppach desert, which probably went under at the beginning of the 16th century .
Until the end of the 18th century, the village of Hauptstuhl belonged to the so-called small court of the Landstuhl rule , which was owned by the Barons of Sickingen of the line to Sickingen.
In 1794 the left bank of the Rhine was occupied in the First Coalition War. From 1798 to 1814 Hauptstuhl belonged to the canton Landstuhl in the Donnersberg department .
Due to the agreements made at the Congress of Vienna , the area first came to Austria in June 1815 and was ceded to the Kingdom of Bavaria in 1816 on the basis of a state treaty . Under the Bavarian administration, Hauptstuhl belonged to the Landkommissariat Homburg im Rheinkreis from 1817 , from 1862 to the District Office Homburg, moved to the District Office Kaiserslautern in 1929 and since 1939 belongs to the District of Kaiserslautern .
After the Second World War , the municipality of Hauptstuhl within the French occupation zone became part of the Palatinate government district in the then newly formed state of Rhineland-Palatinate .

coat of arms
Blazon : "In the shield, which is divided by black and silver, there are five silver balls at the top, a red diagonal right-hand wave bar at the bottom, accompanied on both sides by a green oak leaf with a golden acorn." | |
Justification of the coat of arms: The silver balls are from the coat of arms of the Counts of Sickingen , who ruled the village in the late Middle Ages and the early modern period. The red bar is intended to remind of the submerged town of Ruppach ( Rotbach ), which once existed in the district of Hauptstuhl. The oak leaves stand for the forest grazing rights that the village had in the Reichswald and for the abundance of forests. |
