The Queidersbach (so the official name, locally often Steinalb ) is an almost 11 km long right tributary of the Moosalbe in Rhineland-Palatinate . The Queidersbach valley forms the border between the Sickinger Höhe in the west and the Palatinate Forest Nature Park in the east.

geography

course

The stream rises in the north of the Sickinger Höhe in the district of Kaiserslautern . The area of the source north-north-west of the local community Bann an der Ziegelsteige , the ascent to the Kahlenberg , was redesigned in 2000; The inscription “Steinalbquelle” is carved into the largest of the sandstones used . A resting place has also been set up at the source. The first part of the stream, a distance of about 500 m down into the village, is led underground, so it only comes to the surface in the residential area between Hauptstrasse, Goethestrasse and Schillerstrasse at a height of around 350  m ; this point is denoted by the source coordinates.

On its way south parallel to Landesstraße 363 ( Landstuhl - Steinalben ), the Queidersbach flows through the municipalities of Bann, Queidersbach and Linden in the Kaiserslautern district , then the Horbach municipality in the Südwestpfalz district . Small tributaries flow mainly from the right, from the Sickinger Höhe; the strongest of them is the almost 3 km long Horbach . In Steinalben , the Queidersbach flows into the Moosalbe from the right.

The stream is largely canalised in the villages through which it flows; it can only be seen on the surface in a few places. Mills used to be operated in the area of the hamlet of Neuhof , at the Lindener Mühle below Linden and at the Horbacher Mühle below Horbach .
