The Koblenz section of the German Alpine Club e. V. ( Koblenz section for short ) is a section of the German Alpine Club in Koblenz . The DAV Koblenz is thus one of the older and with 5,928 members (as of December 31, 2018) one of the larger sections of the German Alpine Club in 48th place. It was founded on November 14, 1904.
history
On November 14, 1904, forty men who were already members of various sections of the German and Austrian Alpine Club (DuOeAV) came together in Koblenz to realize the wish for their own section. After the founding meeting of the section on November 14, 1904, a statute was adopted on November 21, 1904 and the board was elected. It was also decided to bring the association into being on January 1st, 1905 and to join the German and Austrian Alpine Association at the same time. Chief Postal Director Johann Friedrich Eduard Rehan, who held this office until 1926, was elected 1st chairman.
The Koblenz section has maintained a partnership with the Metz section of the French Alpine Club (CAF) since 1960 . In 1985 the 25th anniversary could be celebrated.
In 1986 the DAV in Munich offered non-smelter-owning sections to enter into partnerships with smelter-owning sections. The Koblenz section made contact with the Mittenwald section , which has three huts in the Karwendel . The sections decided on October 10, 1987 on the Kröbelalm above Mittenwald the partnership.
