The Traunstein section of the German Alpine Club (DAV) e. V. ( DAV Traunstein for short ) has almost 7,100 members (as of December 31, 2018), making it the largest association in Traunstein , and one of the largest sections of the German Alpine Association in 34th place.

The Traunstein Section , founded on December 9th, 1869, is one of the oldest of the German Alpine Club . It was founded only 7 months after the main club was founded with 29 members.
