The secondary school Ernst Bansi is a secondary school in the city of Quedlinburg in Saxony-Anhalt . The school building is a listed building .
location
The school is located south of the historic Quedlinburg old town in the Süderstadt district , at Pestalozzistraße 20. The building is listed in the Quedlinburg monument register.
Architecture and history
The school, named today after the former mayor of Quedlinburg, Ernst Bansi , was built in 1910 in the style of reform architecture , with Art Nouveau elements also being used. Originally it served as a teacher training college together with the Süderstadt primary school . The inauguration took place in 1911.
The massive two-storey building stands on one of stone built basement . The three-storey medium risk is striking . The building is covered by a mansard hipped roof . The top floor has been expanded.
On the gable side of the house there is a representative entrance decorated with the Quedlinburg coat of arms. In addition, there are pilasters with attached vases.
Inside the building, the original interior fittings from the construction period have been preserved.
A director's building was added to the southwest of the school building. This and the gym in the school yard are designed in the same style as the school itself.
In 1961 the school was renamed the Martin Schwantes School . In 1990 she was given the name Ernst Bansi. At the school, 256 students are taught in 13 classes by 24 teachers (as of 2010).
