history

In 1277 Selsten was first mentioned in a document as Selsteiden , that is, a place in the lowlands , together with Löcken and Schöndorf . From 1797 to 1815 Selsten belonged to Mairie Braunsrath, which, like Mairien Haaren and Waldfeucht, belonged to the canton of Heinsberg in the Département de la Roer . Then the place came to the Prussian district of Heinsberg . In 1935 the Waldfeucht office was formed with the mayor offices of Braunsrath, Haaren , Saeffelen and Waldfeucht. In addition to Selsten, Braunsrath may also include Braunsrath, Hontem , Löcken, Obspringen and Schöndorf. On January 1, 1972, the municipality of Waldfeucht was formed from the office of Waldfeucht - except for Saeffelen. Selsten was incorporated into the town of Waldfeucht together with Braunsrath.
